Motorola SBG6580

details: Surfboard Extreme Wireless Cable Modem
hardware type: Cable Gateway
date added: 2010-05-10
updated: 2015-01-27
The SBG6580 is an EuroDOCSIS 3.0 compliant wireless cable gateway with four 10/100/1000Base-T LAN ports and a single USB port. Utilizing the power of EuroDOCSIS 3.0, the SBG6580 enables channel bonding of up to 8 downstream channels and 4 upstream channels - which allows an operator to offer their customers advanced multimedia services with data rates of over 300 Mbps in DOCSIS mode, 400 Mbps in EuroDOCSIS mode for downstream and 120 Mbps upstream.

The integrated AP complies with IEEE 802.11n standard, providing wireless transmission speeds of up to 300Mbps. It is WDS compatible and supports WMM (QoS) to prioritize the traffic over the network. A WPS button allows for easy wireless security configuration.

This router provides VPN pass-through for IPSec and PPTP. It features a built-in SPI firewall to protect the network against hackers and Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.

completely worthless as a router... use it only as a cable modem and you will be OK

The Motorola SBG6580 is Great, Powerful Gateway (Modem and WiFi Router). It has 4 Network ports to connect the devices directly. But it doesn't have USB as specified in this article. The User manual says not all SBG6580 has USB Ports. But I couldn't find SBG6580 with USB Port.

I've been using the Motorola SBG6580 as both a cable modem and WiFi router for more than a year and had NEVER had a problem. I cannot praise it enough...
